The oldest surviving portrait of St. Dominic, painted in Siena c. 1240, now rests in Harvard’s Fogg Museum. The founder of the Dominican order died in 1221, so the painting may well have been made by one of his contemporaries.
St. Dominic Savio - This student of St. John Bosco was known for his piety and good nature. Dreamed of being a priest, but died at only 15. He is quoted as having said, "Here we make sanctity consist in being joyful all the time & in faithfully performing our duties." Feast day - 3/9. Lord, may I joyfully and faithfully embrace the tasks you place before me with a happy and serving heart.
