The California Academy of Sciences is expensive but worth a visit for families. Inside is an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest with butterflies and birds, natural history exhibits, and interactive science exhibits. There are also exciting temporary exhibitions such as “Skulls” happening in 2014. Be sure to visit the unusual green roof (entirely covered in plants).
