ocated inside the building that was originally the Gatekeeper’s Cottage, our Visitor’s Center overlooks the picturesque Augusta Canal Headgates and the Savannah River, and is the only state certified visitor center in Columbia County. View a re-creation of what the Lockkeeper's bedroom would have been like when he lived and worked here. You will also see a pictorial history of Columbia County and learn the significance of the Augusta Canal to the City of Augusta and the surrounding areas.

One of the most hallowed grounds in America is easily Fort Sumter just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. This Fort went down in history as the site of the first shot of the Civil War. Residents of Charleston report that the spirits of Confederate and Union soldiers roam the Fort as well as the town. Charleston is also the site where Blackbeard ran his vessel, Queen Anne's Revenge, aground. Residents insist that Blackbeard's head haunts the area to this day

The Savannah Visitor Center Parking Lot at 301 Martin Luther King Boulevard is one of three locations where owners of electric vehicles can get juice. Other locations are the Whitaker Street Garage and the Fort at Forsyth Park.
