Detail sleeve, open robe, Canada, 1750-1775. Ivory silk brocaded with small tone on tone flowers and larger polychrome floral clusters, semi boned bodice with square-cut neckline and elbow length sleeve, pleated cuff decorated with fancy cord and polychrome tassels, trained open skirt with cord-trimmed furbelows, matching petticoat, bodice lined in cotton and linen.
How gorgeous is this silk brocade jacket? There's three "generations" of style here: the fabric dates from 1715-20 (probably recut from a gown), the jacket itself from 1730-50, with trimming on the sleeves added 1770-80. Snowshill Collection, from "Costume in Detail" by Nancy Bradfield.
