Dexter Cattle. The perfect small cow for the small farm. Can pull a plow or wagon, produces 1 - 2 gallons of milk a day and provides lean meat ( 250 lbs at 12 mos old and up to 500 lbs by 24 mos old). They eat half as much as a full grown cow and 1 cow can be sustained on 1/2 acre. These cattle are not hybrids or cross breed to obtain their size or attributes. A milking Dexter cow can produce more milk for its weight than any other breed. The daily yield averages 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 gallons with a butterfat content of 4 to 5 percent. Yields of cream up to one quart per gallon are possible.
