Queen Alexandra's grandson, Prince Olav of Norway (1903-1991) was the son of King Haakon VII and Queen Maud of Norway, and would reign from 1957 to 1991 as King Olav V of Norway.


King Olav V of Norway (2 July 1903--17 January 1991), only son of Queen Maud of Norway (nee Princess Maud of Wales). Olav was born Prince Alexander of Denmark and became Crown Prince Olav at 2 when his father was elected king of Norway in 1905. As ruler Olav was immensely popular and became known as "The People's King". At his death he was the last surviving grandchild of King Edward VII of Britain.
