4th Grade STAAR Writing--For students who struggle with writing, break the process down into easy steps. The biggest thing I stress is that the kids preview the passage first and read the questions prior to reading the passage. I showed the kids how to break down questions (ie: replace big words with kid friendly terms or circle key phrases like "main message") and how to use the questions as a guide as we read.
