The YWCA USA is proud to convene our blog carnival for Stand Against Racism today. Stand Against Racism is an annual event that serves as a conversation-starter about racial justice and diversity, and what we can do to achieve true equality in our communities. Racial justice is an integral and defining part of the work of the YWCA.
I always feel not at ease...when political topics come up....I'm not as ballsy as my mom....I don't have the years of practice negotiating and defusing situations and dealing with people my dad has, lol. and living in Arizona...almost always going against the current.
Father, who cares not for our skin color but for what is in our hearts, help us to honor Your servant, Martin Luther King, Jr., by taking up where he was forced to leave off. Teach us to honor his birthday, an American holiday, not just with words, but with works and attitudes. Give us the courage to stand up against racism in our families, schools, workplaces, churches, communities and government. Give us the strength to do as Dr. King did and take up the cause of racial equality.
I'm for truth, no matte who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I'm a human being, first and foremost, and as such I'm for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole. - Malcolm X #quotes
