Standard Oil Map from Indiana...Reminds me of the Standard Oil Service Station that Larry purchased in 2008 from Charles Ellis and had moved to Red Oak II and beautifully restored. It now has a permanent home on our property at Red Oak II. This little Station is the oldest known Standard Station still in existence that was originally on historic Route 66.

Back when they pumped your gas, clean your windsheld, and checked your oil. Now that was service.

Standard Oil began as an Ohio partnership formed by the well-known industrialist John D. Rockefeller, his brother William Rockefeller, Henry Flagler, chemist Samuel Andrews, silent partner Stephen V. Harkness, and Oliver Burr Jennings, who had married the sister of William Rockefeller's wife. In 1870 Rockefeller incorporated Standard Oil in Ohio.
