Watch livestream from the ISS Merging Galaxies Bursting With Light - NGC 2207 and IC 2163. Just like our Milky Way galaxies NGC 2207 and IC 2163 are sprinkled with many star systems known as X-ray binaries, which consist of a star in a tight orbit around either a neutron star or a stella.http://pinterest.com/pin/394979829797002967/
For the first time, researchers have detected a streamer of gas flowing from a massive outer disc toward the inner reaches of a binary star system. This never-before-seen feature may be responsible for sustaining a second, smaller disc of planet-forming material that otherwise would have disappeared long ago. Half of Sun-like stars are born in binary systems, meaning that these findings will have major consequences for the hunt for exoplanets. (ESO)
#AnnaCarina or #EtaCarinae is a star system in the constellation Carina is almost 7,500 to 8,000 light-years from the Sun and its mass of 120 solar masses is estimated. The system consists of at least two stars. This system is one of two known stars, a luminous blue variable (Labeo) in the early stages of his life had a mass of about 150 solar masses, but now at least 30 solar masses of crime has been reduced.
Death Star: Eta Carinae, one of the closest stars to Earth is huge and unstable and will likely explode in a supernova in the relatively 'near future' (On an astronomical timeline this could be a million years from now). via NASA #Eta_Carinae #Supernova #NASA
