Traditional poppy seed strudel I now make every Christmas to satisfy the German contingent. Notice that the poppy seeds come in mouthfuls, not sprinkles. Poppy seed products (bagels, muffins, etc.) in the US seem merely decorated with poppy seeds. No such trouble here.

We wanted an apple strudel recipe for the rest of us—most strudel recipes call for rolling it like a log which risks tearing the phyllo and creates a tough texture on the bottom of the pastry. We found a new way to fold the pastry that is better and easier.
