Teaching Money ideas -- GREAT for a math center. I would have all of the coins cut out first which will greatly reduce the time that students are doing an activity, this would probably need to be teacher/para/parent led.

Activity Mom found this money activity to help kids understand coin value. I'm not sure who created it? If you know, give a shout out! Kids add up coins to reach one dollar in this math game, great for visual learners. Click to download!

Use a hundred chart to help students count coins. Have students place coins on the correct number. For instance, given 3 dimes and 1 nickel, students would place dimes on 10, 20, 30 and the nickel on 35. The last coin tells students how much money they have altogether.

This game is VERY simple but powerful for the kids because it helps them to make those connections that 5 pennies = 1 nickel, 2 nickels = 1 dime, etc...

Here are a few of my favorite You Tube videos and songs for teaching coins. These are a great way to ease transitions and get kids up and moving while learning.
