Perchta or Berchta was once known as a goddess in Southern Germanic paganism in the Alpine countries. Her name means "the bright one". Perchta was at first a benevolent spirit. In Germanic paganism, Perchta had the rank of a minor deity. That changed to an enchanted creature (spirit or elf) in Old High German - such as Grimm describes - but she was given a more malevolent character (sorceress or witch) in later ages.
Hickory Horned Devil. The caterpillars molt 5 times. Each instant is different, but on their sixth & final instar they become a bright green color, w/ huge, black-tipped red horns, earning them their common name 'hickory horned devils' - they can grow up to 5.9 in long

The surprise has been lost but according to archives it is reported to be a four leaf clover with twenty three diamonds, and four miniature portraits of the four daughters of the Emperor: Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia.
