Sgt. Michael E. Ristau, 25, of Rockford, Ill., died July 13 in Qalat, Zabul province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked with an enemy improvised explosive device. Cpl. Juan P. Navarro, 23, of Austin, Texas, died July 7, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when he was attacked with an enemy improvised explosive device. Sgt. John E. Hansen, 41, died Thursday, July 26, in Khakrez, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he encountered an enemy improvised explosive device. Sgt. Hansen had last been at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in December 2011, when he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. Spc. Benjamin H. Neal, 21, of Orfordville, Wis., died April 25 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Marine Sgt. Wade D. Wilson, 22, of Normangee, Texas. Died May 11, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. Died in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations.
