Gene Anthony Ray, American actor, dancer, & choreographer. He was known for his portrayal as dancer Leroy Johnson in both the 1980 film Fame and the Fame television series based upon the film. He also appeared in TV/ film works Vendredi ou la Vie sauvage, Out of Sync, Eddie & in commercials for Dr Pepper & Diet Coke. At age 41, he died from complications of a stroke. His mother stated that he was HIV positive. R.I.P.
