The Scream (1893) by Edvard Munch - Oil and pastel on cardboard - Featuring a ghoulish figure that looks like the host from Tales from the Crypt, the backdrop of this expressionist painting is said to be Oslo, Norway.

Edward Munch - The Scream. This will always be one of my favorite paintings. Munch was all about the human experience, and this painting was specifically about feeling helpless to love and death as overwhelming powers that we have no control over. The colors, the shapes...it's all for a purpose. I love it.

Students learned about the artist Edvard Munch and his famous artwork “The Scream”.Students learned that Edvard Munch is the person in the painting but he is not actually screaming. He is in shock because he thought that nature was screaming at him due to the the bright red sky against the dark land.Students also learned that “The Scream”was stolen twice, but they were able to get it back both times without much damage to the painting.
