a water trombe wall combined with a dual purpose solar + stack ventilation chimney, with mechanically controlled vents, for an attached passive greenhouse/conservatory that also heats/cools the home, circulates air, and lets light and fresh air in
Passive House Basics - the passive house design is predicated on having an airtight, super-insulated building envelope. Then you add big windows facing south to allow the sun to warm a large interior wall (or thermal mass they call it). The wall will hold heat for winter time comfort. For summer time you add a screening / shading system for those windows, preferably outside with an open air space between window and shade.
Epic Greenhouse Rocket Mass Heater - The 2-inch insulation board has be laid in on the floor of the thermal-mass trench, 3-4 inches of gravel added, and now the pipe has been assembled with a single screw holding each 2-foot section of pipe together. Remember, we are maintaining the 8″ flue pipe dimension (50+ square inches) throughout the entire system.
