In this activity, students sort 20 nonlinear functions (a mix of quadratics, absolute value and radicals) into one of 8 categories depending on their translation from the origin. For example, y = (x + 3)^2 + 7 would sort into the category "shifts left and up".
Functions: Transforming Functions Notes and Card Sort is a set of guided notes on function transformations for interactive notebooks. Students use the guided notes to understand transformations of functions. Students apply their understanding of function transformations in a card sort activity.
