"Two days, one night", 2014."Deux jours, une nuit" (original title). Directed by Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne. With "Two days, one night" the Dardennes have turned a relevant social inquiry into a powerful statement on community solidarity, once again delivering a film that is simple on the surface but alive with both compassion and wisdom.
This was by far the best movie of the 2016 Hallmark Christmas movie season. A hopeless romantic is dumped by her boyfriend of two months just before she heads home for her sister's wedding. She brings along her coworker/illustrator Liam as her date. She begins to receive gifts marked "For my one true love." Each gift is from the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas." She tries to figure out who her mystery suitor is. I loved this movie!
Pixar's "Day and Night" short film. I used this today for a first grade science lesson on day sky vs. night sky and it was a PERFECT set. It highlights some of the good things about each to get the wheels turning in their head, and the kids really enjoyed it! I followed it up by a Venn diagram of day and night that we completed as a class.
