A chewy salted caramel is poured over roasted pecans then topped with a thin layer of rich chocolate. These are what you make when you love someone. It's the gourmet version of Turtles, and an awesome copycat of Purdy's Sweet Georgia Browns.
It's almost unfair to use the turtle as a symbol because it's so obviously used by the author in an entire chapter, but it fits so perfectly with the theme of the book. People during this time were persistant much like a turtle. Jacob Gackle
