Gov. William Bradford (1590-1657) William Bradford was the governor of Plymouth colony. He came to New England on the Mayflower in 1620 and in 1621, on the death of John Carver, was chosen leader of the Pilgrims.

Carver is said to have written the Mayflower Compact, & was its 1st signer as well as 1st governor of the new colony. Another famous Pilgrim is William Bradford. He also signed the #Mayflower compact & served as governor. Most came from the eastern shires of England, where Separatist sentiment was the greatest.
