First Ferris Wheel at 1893 World Fair in Chicago. Each car held 60 people. Another fun fact: it was intended to outdo the Eiffel Tower in size and design. #maryslocalmarket

The Electricity Building at The World's Fair: Columbian Exposition. This was a World's Fair held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the New World in 1492. I just finished reading a book about this (The Devil In the White City, by Erik Larson), so I'm frolicing in seeing more photos of the Fair right now.

Great article about the 1964-65 World's Fair and what remains on the site today. The fair was one of the driving inspirations for what became EPCOT Center nearly 20 years later.
