The 1946 World Series featured the Boston Red Sox vs the St. Louis Cardinals. Although the Cardinals would eventually take the series in seven games, Game 3 was won by the Red Sox (4-0) giving Boston a 2-1 series lead. The '46 Sox line-up included Dom DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Bobby Doerr and Johnny Pesky among others. Pesky, whose number was finally retired in 2008 went 2-4 in the game and was part of 2 thrilling double plays in the field.
