William Henry Harrison, born February 9, 1773, was the ninth President of the United States. During his inauguration he caught a cold that developed into pneumonia and died on April 14, 1841. He had been President less than a month.

Jimmy Carter - 39th President of the United States, 76th Governor of Georgia, and 2002 Nobel Peace laureate - attended Georgia Tech from 1942 to 1943 before transferring to the Naval Academy. When President Carter hosted a foreign policy address in Alexander Memorial Coliseum in 1979, he was then presented an honorary doctor of engineering degree for the class of 1946 and the Alumni Distinguished Service Award.

The Democrats, advocating the "free and unlimited coinage of both silver and gold"--which would have mildly inflated the currency--nominated William Jennings Bryan.
