" Whether or not his work is intentional -- I think ideas come through meditation, they come through deep reflective thinking and then something kind of snaps together and then he moves on to the next instant. It's a reflection of something immediate. It may or may not have deeper meaning."

waterlilies painting by claude monet. i saw one in the portland art museum. beautiful x 1000000!
#18 Balance of color is shown in this picture as well as incorporating the water lilies throughout the image. Rhythm is created again by the evenly spaced lilies and theres not too many to overpower the image. proportion is shown with the size of the body of water compared to the little lilies the picture is depicting a pond with light reflecting. i think the artist painted this picture from a photograph and tried to duplicate it

Modern Paper Art Installation - My favorite paper artist ever is Olga Lah, who I first discovered while sitting on a jury for the Los Angeles Art Association. She installed this amazing and adaptable piece in the entryway of the 2012 Palm Springs Art Fair which took place last February during the city's vaunted Modernism Week.

Peter Gentenaar. Dutch artist, Peter Gentenaar, creates these beautiful, ethereal, floating paper sculptures. These are hung inside a church in France. http://www.gentenaar-torley.nl
Peter Gentenaar isn't any ordinary paper artist. He creates extraordinarily beautiful paper sculptures that have an ethereal quality to them. His exhibition at the abbey church of Saint-Riquier church in northern France proves this point. It's where he hung more than a 100 paper sculptures in the church's grand halls. (What a perfect backdrop.) http://www.gentenaar-torley.nl

Ethereal Paper Sculptures by Peter Gentenaar These ghostly paper sculptures by Dutch artist Peter Gentenaar are absolutely stunning. The pieces pictured here are hung inside the abbey church of St. Riquier, which perfectly complements the celestial-like appearance of the sculptures.

BOOKS: I collect antique books. I buy new books. Yet, I have no time to read them, and when I do, my brain won't let me focus. THere is something about a book, it's tangible, and the jackets can be quite beautiful. Electronic books are not my thing.
I've never met a book I didn't want to snuggle with. I like old books best. Books worth reading.....any book is worth reading. Reading is the best exercise for your brain. If I win the lottery, I'll build a library in my home.
“There was the smell of old books, a smell that has a way of making all libraries seem the same. Some say that smell is asbestos. ” ― Scott Douglas
Old Disney books! Stole from niki, a must have for any ♥ dreamer to someday have a library like belle ♥♥

Andreas Feininger (1906-1999) American photographer and a writer on photographic technique. portrait by Dennis Stock (1951)
The Photojournalist 1951 Gelatin Silver by Andreas Feininger © Time Inc. Portrait of acclaimed photographer Dennis Stock.
Andreas Feininger, 1955. Andreas Bernhard Lyonel Feininger (27 December 1906 in Paris – 18 February 1999) was an American photographer and a writer on photographic technique. He was noted for his dynamic black-and-white scenes of Manhattan and for studies of the structures of natural objects. He was educated as an architect in Germany, where his father painted and taught, at Staatliches Bauhaus. In 1936, he gave up architecture and focused on photography.
LIFE's Andreas Feininger always had an eye for the beauty and energy of the inanimate -- his best work showed the majesty in skylines, in machines, in bridges and tunnels. Here, Feininger uses an object -- a camera -- to build a creative, almost loving portrait of fellow photographer Dennis Stock (who also shot for LIFE, and has an image, of James Dean, included in this gallery). Positioning the lens and viewfinder as Stock's eyes, Feininger pays homage to his own profession: The photographer's camera, he's saying, is a piece of himself.@ Greg phipps

Motoi Yamamoto is a Japanese artist who works exclusively with SALT to create enormous patterns on to the floor of beautiful spaces, as well as intricate labyrinths of salt leading up to entire mountain ranges of the stuff.
They say patience is the key. And this is exactly what Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto needs besides salt when creating his amazing salt installations. It takes hundreds of hours to create one installation. It’s quite a testimony to artist’s patience and discipline.
