This is gorgeous--I would like it more if it didn't leave one so *open* to projectiles from the back. The spine is so vulnerable.

Tank Mask ‘Masks like this one were worn by British crews in tanks during the First World War. The leather mask is shaped to fit around the eyes and nose and the chain mail was used to protect against splinters from explosions as the tank came under fire. Life inside these primitive vehicles would have been extremely uncomfortable as well as dangerous.’ ~Protective face mask, United Kingdom, 1917-1918)

The Seton Watch-Large SKULL WATCH given by Mary Queen of Scots to Mary Seton. The forehead of the skull is engraved with a figure of death between a palace and a cottage, and a quotation in Latin meaning 'pale death visits with impartial foot the cottages of the poor and the castles of the rich' (Horace). The skull is held upside down and the jaw lifted to read the silver dial. The hour is struck on a bell. Made by Moyant A Blois (1570-90).
