If you ever find yourself near Natchitoches, Louisiana (like anything less than 200 miles or so), make a beeline for Lasyone's Meat Pie Kitchen & Restaurant. If it isn't time to eat when you get there, wait -- you won't regret it! I'll take a side of dirty rice and gravy with mine and be sure to save room for some Cane River Pie. The McIlhenny family has made TABASCO® Sauce on Avery Island, Louisiana for over 5 generations. Built on a salt dome, it's a mysteriously beautiful place where the red peppers grow, the factory hums, and abundant wildlife can be seen in Jungle Gardens. Avery Island, LA: E.A. McIlhenny (Tobasco) prized rare plants, and he enhanced the Island's natural landscape with numerous varieties of azaleas, Japanese camellias, Egyptian papyrus and other botanical treasures. When oil was discovered on the Island in 1942, he made sure that production crews bypassed live oak trees, buried pipelines (or painted them green), and took additional steps to preserve the Island's pristine beauty and ensure its continuing role as a wildlife refuge.

When Edward Norton thinks about a trip of a lifetime, his mind wanders back to Campi ya Kanzi, an eco-lodge in the Chyulu Hills of Kenya. “Every time I go I wish I had longer to spend there,” says the actor, who cherishes early morning walks there in the domain of zebras, giraffes, elephants, and lions.“To be alone in nearly 300,000 acres of pristine wilderness with young Masai warriors guiding you is really a peak experience,” says Norton.
