The Eagle has risen: Stellar spire in the Eagle | exploringuniverse...

The Fairy of Eagle Nebula. Fairypillar formation of Cosmic dust from outer space. The size of this formation is unimaginable! The dust sculptures of the Eagle Nebula are evaporating. As powerful starlight whittles away these cool cosmic mountains, the statuesque pillars that remain might be imagined as mythical beasts. Pictured above is one of several striking dust pillars of the Eagle Nebula that might be described as a gigantic alien fairy. This fairy, however, is ten light years tall and spews radiation much hotter than common fire. The greater Eagle Nebula, M16, is actually a giant evaporating shell of gas and dust inside of which is a growing cavity filled with a spectacular stellar nursery currently forming an open cluster of stars. The above image in scientifically re-assigned colors was released in 2005 as part of the fifteenth anniversary celebration of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope.
This is an extremely high definition Hubble Telescope shot of the Eagle Nebula. The Eagle has risen: Stellar spire in the Eagle Nebula. Stars in the Eagle Nebula are born in clouds of cold hydrogen gas that reside in chaotic neighbourhoods, where energy from young stars sculpts fantasy-like landscapes in the gas. The tower may be a giant incubator for those newborn stars. A torrent of ultraviolet light from a band of massive, hot, young stars [off the top of the image] is eroding the pillar.
This billowing tower rising from the Eagle Nebula, a stellar nursery, is 9.5 light-years high or twice the distance from Sol to the nearest star. It is thought that within this structure appearing like a winged fairy tale creature poised upon a pedestal, stars are forming. This due to either gas and dust collapsing from gravity or from gas heated up by neighboring hot stars
Astronomy Picture of the Day 23 March/13 This is one of the most famous images in the history of astrophotography. In 2005, this Hubble image was re-released using a different coloring matrix. It shows a very small portion of the Eagle Nebula (also called M16). This spire known as the "Fairy of the Eagle Nebula". The fairy stands 10 light-yrs tall. ~Joshua

Stars are forming in the Soul of the Queen of Aethopia. More specifically, a large star forming region called the Soul Nebula can be found in the direction of the constellation Cassiopeia, who Greek mythology credits as the vain wife of a King who long ago ruled lands surrounding the upper Nile river. The Soul Nebula houses several open clusters of stars, a large radio source known as W5, and huge evacuated bubbles formed by the winds of young massive stars.

Not Mother Earth: Soap Bubble Nebula! This is one huge bubble... as large as our Solar System - more info: is a planetary nebula in the constellation Cygnus, near the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888).
The Soap bubble nebula, or PN G75.5+1.7, is a planetary nebula in the constellation Cygnus. Most planetary nebulae are elliptical or cigar-shaped, but in this case, its unusual shape was caused after a vast spherical cloud of gas was ejected from each pole of an ageing star.

*** On January 7, 1610, physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei turned his new telescope to the nocturnal sky to watch the planet Jupiter and discovered the eponymous four moons of Jupiter, Io, Europa, Ganimede, and Callisto. - Outer Space | Wow
The Galilean moons are the four moons of Jupiter discovered by Galileo Galilei around January 1610. They are by far the largest of the moons of Jupiter and derive their names from the lovers of Zeus: Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. They are among the most massive objects in the Solar System outside the Sun and the eight planets, with radii larger than any of the dwarf planets.
This "family portrait," a composite of the Jovian system, includes the edge of Jupiter with its Great Red Spot, and Jupiter's four largest moons, known as the Galilean satellites. From top to bottom, the moons shown are Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. Credit: NASA Credit: NASA

Called the Cone Nebula (NGC 2264) because in ground-based images it has a conical shape, this giant pillar resides in a turbulent star-forming region. This picture, taken April 2, 2002, by the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) aboard NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope.
In this series (see other pics) astronomers selected the top 10 most amazing pictures taken by the Hubble space telescope in the last 16 years. "...they illustrate that our universe is not only deeply strange, but also almost impossibly beautiful." Michael Hanlon/AH (Nov 25th, 2006) . After correcting an initial problem with the lens, when the Hubble Space Telescope was first launched in 1990, the floating astro-observatory began to relay back to Earth, incredible snapshots of the "final frontier" it was perusing. Recently, astronauts voted on the top photographs taken by Hubble, in its 16-year journey so far. Remarking in the article from the Daily Mail, reporter Michael Hanlon says the photos "illustrate that our universe is not only deeply strange, but also almost impossibly beautiful." In this photo and in sixth place is the Cone Nebula. The part pictured here is 2.5 light years in length (the equivalent of 23 million return trips to the Moon).
