The big dream is to create a new tribe of language speakers. A community fluent in thought and speech. At present the Squamish Language is considered the third most endangered language in British Columbia. Recent studies have shown how communities with language programs and young speakers have lower suicide rates due to a sense of belonging and connection knowing your language brings.
Chief Dan George, 7/24/1899 - 8/23/1981, was a chief of the Tsleil-Waufuth Nation located on Burrard Inlet in North Vancouver B.C. Canada. He was also an author, poet and an Academy Award nominated actor. In 1960 at the age of 60 he landed his first acting job. At 71, he won several awards for his role in "Little Big Man" and them acted in many other films like "The Outlaw Josey Wales".
