Lauren Chief Elk (Assiniboine and Black Foot) Chief Elk is known for her efforts to decolonize the way that people are educated and the way that they approach issues regarding interpersonal violence, especially towards indigenous women. In addition to her efforts using social media, she takes her approach offline and helps in developing community outreach through education and the facilitation of healing and justice for victims of interpersonal violence. She has also assisted in Operation Thunderbird, now known as the Save Wiyabi Mapping Project, which entailed mapping and maintaining a database documenting Murdered and Missing Indigenous women throughout the U.S and Canada. Coverage of her efforts have been featured in Salon, Model View Culture, the Global Information Society Watch, and TruthOut.
