Tablet Woven Viking Belt - Blue and Yellow Wool

band from Øvre Berge, Lyngdal. Migration period.

970 C.E., Mammen, Denmark. Fragments interpreted as the decorative ends of a cloak fastening band. Purple silk, stuffed with blue wool. Tablet braid in silk, gold and silver thread. Decorative panel in nalbinding with gold and silver thread.

Sketch showing one possible position of the tablet-woven bands in Birka grave 735. It's not clear whether it was from a male or female body, and the type of garment is also uncertain.
