If the over hang (part of section A) extended the length of the table and then both lower sections and upper sections could be enclosed to hide wiring and minimize fluorescent light into classroom - this would work.

build a bench Easy...I like easy. I ended up using 2X4's for the legs and a 6x12 stair riser for the bench top but it worked out very well.
