Classroom, Favourites Plays, High School, Theater Plays, Favorite Plays
Menagerie was Williams's first popular success and launched the brilliant, if somewhat controversial, career of our pre-eminent lyric playwright. Since its premiere in Chicago in 1944, with the legendary Laurette Taylor in the role of Amanda, the play has been the bravura piece for great actresses from Jessica Tandy to Joanne Woodward, and is studied and performed in classrooms and theatres around the world.
The Glass Menagerie - High School Reading
The Glass Menagerie...my favorite play!
Emma Donaghue, Room.
Worth Reading, Book Club, Mother, Books Worth, Favourite Books, Rooms
Room is a compelling and deeply disturbing book that holds your attention throughout. The way that the author, Emma Donoghue, writes in the voice of a 5 year old boy is truly amazing. That alone makes it worth reading.
Room: Emma Donoghue Worth the read. Mother kidnapped and held in a room for seven years. Has a child and raises him to believe the room is the whole world, until escape. Through the eyes of the five year old.
A beautiful, uplifting and wellwritten book about a Mothers love for her boy, whose whole world is Room, 10x10 sqm. Early in book you sense something is wrong......... (Inspired by the J. Fritzl case from Austria)
Room by Emma Donoghue. A woman and her child are kept in captivity. Will they ever escape? You will be holding your breathe for a fair portion of this book so it's lucky most people read it in one sitting.
Emma Donoghue, Room/ Heartbreaking but uplifting at the same time. A mother's love for her child.
Fascinating and yet not too horrifying account of a mother & son held hostage in one room
Room - Emma Donoghue (My favourite book. I want Jack to come and live with me!)
Room by Emma Donoghue. Amazing story, unlike anything I have ever read before

Survivor - Chuck Palahniuk. By far one of my favorite authors, and this is my favorite of his books (so far). Palahniuk is definitely not for those with a weak stomach. I like this book for the way Palahniuk makes bizarre and in some cases downright horrifying situations seem perfectly normal and even ho-hum. Fantastic writing.

Survivor - Chuck Palahniuk - one of my favorite books by him, and the cover art is the tattoo that I will most likely never get. :D
"Edition to edition, the symptoms change. Sane people are insane by a new standard. People who used to be called insane are the picture of perfect mental health.” ― Chuck Palahniuk, Survivor
Survivor - Chuck Palahniuk. In the book, every member of the Creedish Cult learns how to be a servant for the human race—most of them are butlers and maids—and fear most human pleasures. They await a sign from God to tell them to deliver themselves unto Him; that is, they must commit suicide. The sign finally comes, and a good ten years later, Tender becomes the last surviving member of the cult. He is thrown into mainstream culture and becomes a personal icon for many people.

The Velveteen Rabbit has been my favorite book of wisdom since I was a wee girl. It still makes me cry today, though I also see the deeper message meant for adults in the text! Skin horse is very wise...
'The Velveteen Rabbit', by Margery Williams. One of my favorite books and it's still is on the shelf.
"Does it hurt?" asked the rabbit. "Sometimes," said the skin horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are real you don't mind being hurt." - The Velveteen Rabbit
Where would I put just the rabbit and the quote beneath him as a tattoo? 'The Velveteen Rabbit', by Margery Williams Just love this and remember this book vividly
My very favorite book from my childhood. I also loved The Pokey Little Puppy, but The Velveteen Rabbit took longer for mom to read :) Loved cuddling up and listening to her read to me
“What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.” “Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit. “Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.” “Does...
rabbit quotes | promise I’m not emo. I simply adore The Velveteen Rabbit . Thanks ...
The Velveteen Rabbit: Does it hurt? The Skin Horse: Sometimes. When you are Real, you don't mind being hurt. The Velveteen Rabbit: Does it happen all at once, like being wound up, or bit by bit? The Skin Horse: It doesn't happen all at once; you become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't often happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. By the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out, and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all because once you are real, you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.
