The Library (1905) Elizabeth Shippen Green (USA, 1935-45) - This is part of a collection called “The Mistress of the House”, published in Harper’s Monthly Magazine. It accompanies other idealized images of the life of an early 1900s woman. Her library does look nice, with the small window and the assorted knickknacks
The Library ~ Elizabeth Shippen Green 1905, This reminds me of Anne of Green Gables when she rented a house with friends when she went away from school.
a comfortable spot to read. This is a good idea for the living room. I love the idea of a book nook - and doing again my book-nest in the bedroom.
I love this!!!! (The Library. First published in “The Mistress of the House” in Harper’s Monthly, August 1905. The original watercolour illustration is now owned by the Delaware Art Museum. Elizabeth Shippen Green (American, 1871-1954). The mistress of the house is relaxing and reading in her library. Green illustrated children’s books and worked for years for Harper’s. Green mastered her technique of sparkling watercolor glazes over solid charcoal drawings and, then later, she began painting in opaque colors.)
The moment you realize you are just reading the book and it's not acutally your life.

My favorite spot on Wolfe Island, Ontario. I sit on that log and listen to the waves.
"Eight lamps sat across the ornate desk, casting a yellow-orange glow in the shadowed recess of the long room. When in full operation, each bulb threw light upon the face of a hotel staff stationed and waiting to welcome arriving guests. Bell boys with short jackets and tiny hats buckled beneath their chins had been hired to load the large state-of-the-art freight elevator with luggage dollies destined for the floors above." The Pier. Ostend, Belgium. 1895. "Chloe felt faint. Her face tingled with cold sparks. She sat down on a footstool. She was going to Ostend. To see her grandmother. And they were leaving for the city tonight. This very evening. And she would be going with Simon. This man. Her mind flashed with the image of his hands separating her thighs. Her husband. 'I didn’t have a chance to tell you. I would like to take you home.'" (Swann Bay, GiuliaTorre.com, 2015).
