Vintage Airstream pulled by bike - An early Airstream promotional photo demonstrates the light weight of the trailer.
A classic photo! The airstream was the first of the now familiar sausage-shaped, silver aluminum Airstream trailers. Of more than 400 travel trailer builders operating in 1936, Airstream was the sole survivor of the Depression.
French bicycle racer, Latourneau pulled an Airstream caravan in 1947 to demonstrate how light it was.
Airstream trailers are timeless classics. (http://hofarc.com/featured/1947-trailer-reflects-americas-trailer-pioneers/) In a February 1947 Airstream magazine ad, Byam (forever the pitchman) created notoriety and American advertising history by proving that his travel trailer was so well-balanced and lightweight that it could be pulled by French bicyclist Jean Letourneau.

Back in the 1920s, a Maytag salesman didn’t wait around in a store for customers. He went out and looked for them! John Huebner found out that selling the new gasoline-powered washers was a lot of work—and pretty hard on the old family flivver, too. Once John had lined up his weekly appointments, he’d remove the front passenger seat from his 1926 Model T sedan. He’d discovered the remaining space was a perfect fit for a new Maytag.

White Easter gloves...and don't forget the hats for everybody! Mom had a very fashionable hat, us girls got to wear pretty hats with flowers, ribbons and bows, plus new shiny white patent-leather shoes. My brother got a suit and tie and a hat with a feather in it. He thought he was cool like dad.

Discipline in school-I can remember this happening at my school but required to write on paper most of the time instead of the chalkboard.
Remember ever having to do this? I had to write " I will not tell Terry the time". 100 times. My worst memory of school.
Remember ever having to do this???? write 100 times: "A gum chewing girl and a cud chewing cow are so much alike, yet different somehow. The only difference is the thoughtful look on the face of a cow."!!!!
Remember ever having to do this???? I and my best friend had to write 100 times on paper once: "A gum chewing girl and a cud chewing cow are so much alike, yet different somehow. The difference I think that I know now is the thoughtful look on the face of a cow."!!!!
Remember ever having to do this???? Get in trouble the teacher would draw a ring on the chalk board and you had to put your nose in the ring.. you breathe and it would sweat it off!!
Remember ever having to do this???? I had to write 100 times on the board, I will be courteous in Mr. Connolly's class.
Remember ever having to do this???? I had to write 100 times on paper. This was a punishment from both my Dad AND the detention teacher in junior high, lol.
Oh, I remember those days! Spent many a time at the old chalk board!!

Boy working in shoe shine parlor Indianapolis, IN August 1908. By Lewis W. Hine (Lewis Wickes Hine: September 26, 1874 – November 3, 1940)
Natural cleaning ideas from Apartment Therapy: olive oil shoe polish, vinegar label removal, baking soda in craft pain, club soda for stainless steel, herbal sachets as moth repellent
Chapter 16: "Bill was buy shoe-shines for Mike" (176). Bill is an ass, but he is quite hilarious. Only he would go to the trouble to get eleven different men to polish Mike's shoes for the hell of it. I do love my friends.
(Chapter 16) Bill keeps messing around with Mike. "This is the eleventh time my boots have been polished," said Mike. "I say, Bill is an ass" (177). As you can see in this photograph, Mike's boots have already been shined to mirrored perfection, but Bill just keeps paying for more. As much as I hate these guys for their ephemerality and lack of thrift, they can be quite entertaining in certain situations.

On October 22, 1955 the #FordThunderbird , or T-Bird, went on sale in America, creating a market niche that would become known as the personal luxury car. Positioned directly against the Corvette, the 4.8-litre V8-powered convertible outsold the Chevrolet by more than 23-to-one in its first year and went on to sell over 4.4 million units over eleven model generations from 1955 to 2005.
