The ITP Support Association,, based in the UK, work tirelessly to promote ITP Awareness throughout the UK and Europe. They have a website: www.itpsupport.org that has facts and information which is very beneficial to ITPers in that part of the world.
Platelets are necessary for our blood to clot properly. With ITP, our bodies' immune system creates auto-antibodies that target the platelets to be destroyed. A low platelet count causes bruising, bleeding and hemorrhaging. Life can be very scary when a person worries if bumping your knee or getting a bop on the head may cause excessive bleeding. That's why platelets are very precious to us. To see items featuring this picture go to http://www.zazzle.com/gretaburroughs*
ITPers or Plateleteers are a great group of people. In the support groups, the ones with more experience with the problems associated with ITP, the treatments, side effects, etc are always available to coach and comfort the newly diagnosed. It's so nice to have others to talk to that have been there, done that and have love and support. To see items featuring this picture go to http://www.zazzle.com/gretaburroughs*
September is ITP Awareness Month but we need to work every day of the year to spread the word about ITP. It is the most common blood disease but no one has ever heard of it. To see items featuring this picture go to http://www.zazzle.com/gretaburroughs*
