Lenten Practice Day 44: Maundy Thursday Just after washing his disciples' feet, Jesus said, "I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." What kind and selfless act can you do today? How can you then take that type of kindness and compassion forward as a daily practice of living into the Gospel of love and service?
Lenten Practice Day 43: "The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff...Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.” (-Carl Sagan) Watch this gorgeous video and gasp at how precious and sacred everything is: http://vimeo.com/58626695
2013 Lenten Practice Day 36: Archbishop Desmond Tutu said, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Do something today to stand up for someone facing oppression, to end some system of injustice, or advocate for those who need it. Take a risk and speak up for those who aren't being listened to.
Lenten Practice Day 45: Good Friday In honor of the "Stations of the Cross," we invite you to reflect on the next step on your own journey. Is there any kind of death you need to experience in your life, letting go of things, burying a habit, or helping put an end to an injustice? Is there something that has to die in your life before you can have your own resurrection, or be part of bringing new life to the world? Be rigorously honest with yourself, and take that step you need to take.
Lenten Practice Day 46: Holy Saturday As we approach the Resurrection, reflect on the things you've learned during the Lenten season. What has died, and what is being renewed and given new life? What have you been waiting for, and what are you expecting? As we end Lent, think about what you can do to get the most out of this season, and how you can most celebrate the renewal that comes on Easter day.
Lenten Practice Day 42: Look for your teachers today, whether they be people, animals, places, situations, setbacks, annoyances, joys, or moments of pause, peace, or contemplation. Be aware today and look for the lessons life gives us.
Lenten Practice Day 41: Do something that gives you - and those around you - hope today! Go out and make some good things happen. If you need a pep talk, here's Kid President to inspire you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-gQLqv9f4o=share=SPzvRx_johoA-YabI6FWcU-jL6nKA1Um-t
Lenten Practice Day 40: Palm Sunday. Go out of your way to do something in community with others this week. Gather peers together, or join a movement with others, uniting in some common goal for the good of the world, and make a difference as a group. Use the power of numbers to create change, and forward or share this message to inspire others to do the same!
Lenten Practice Day 39: Watch this incredibly moving and inspiring video, and think about who you can empower, how you can change someone's life, or what you can start today: http://www.ted.com/talks/kakenya_ntaiya_a_girl_who_demanded_school.html
