Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White. This was one of my favorite books as a child, and I started reading it aloud to my kids when they were about four years old. They loved it, and I discovered that it's short enough to read to them in just a few days. The only problem is that every time, I wind up a sobbing mess at the end!

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain is a popular 1876 novel about a young boy growing up in a small town along the Mississippi River. Most of the adventures recorded in this book really occurred. Book cover canvas prints.
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain -- Tom, a clever Missouri boy based on the boyhood of the author, falls in love with Becky Thatcher, attends his own funeral, gets lost in a cave while being threatened by a local bad guy, and comes out as the hero in the end.
“she makes me wash, they make me comb all to thunder; she won't let me sleep in the woodshed... the widder [widow] eats by a bell; she goes to bed by a bell; she wakes up by a bell-everything's so awful reg'lar a body can't stand it” ~ Mark Twain, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer ~ 1876

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Now one of my favorite books! Amazing! Not sure how I feel about the movie that just came out though.
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. If you liked the movie, you should read the original. A long book, but available in abridged forms and absolutely worth the read. "In other words, and from a yet more extended point of view, so long as ignorance and misery remain on earth, books like this cannot be useless."
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Long but worthwhile book. Beautiful story of redemption. Great book, great theater, great movie!
Les Miserables (Signet Classics) by Victor Hugo, you have to read the unabridged book. The movie and the play don't do it justice.
Les Misérables, Victor Hugo. One of my favorite books, it's extremely character-driven. There are no perfectly good or perfectly evil characters; I found myself sympathetic even to the most despicable characters (except maybe the Thenardiers.)
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Find it in FCPL's catalog at hip1.sjvls.org. Movie released Dec 2012.
Les Miserables * by victor hugo * you should read it before the movie musical opens Christmas Day...
You might want to be prepared before watching the film! #lesmiserables #books

How To Read A Book: The Classic Guide to Intelligent Reading by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren
How to Read a Book, originally written by Mortimer Adler in 1940 and revised with Charles van Doren in 1972, is the kind of book often described as a “living classic” — “classic” because it deals with the fundamental and unchanging mesmerism of the written word, and “living” because it does so in a way that divorces this mesmerism from its hard medium, allowing the essence to evolve as our culture has evolved over the decades.
How to Read a Book: From basic reading to systematic skimming and inspectional reading to speed reading, Adler’s how-to’s apply as efficiently to practical text... "Why is marking a book indispensable to reading it? First, it keeps you awake — not merely conscious, but wide awake. Second, reading, if it is active, is thinking, and thinking tends to express itself in words, spoken or written. Third, writing your reactions down helps you to remember the thoughts of the author."
How to read a book < I am certain none of this applies to the 50 shades trilogy ;)
Classic Guide to Intelligent Reading - hello high school memories
"How to Read a Book" cover
A collection of quotations on the writer's craft. The book offers nothing less than the collective trench wisdom of generations of great authors: Mark Twain — "when you catch an adjective, kill it"; Hemingway on persistence — he claimed to scrawl 91 clunky pages for every sparkler; and Flaubert on the necessity of revision — "prose is like hair," he wrote, "it shines with combing".

Nigella Lawson says that one cannot have too many books. This is her library. original photo credit House & Garden - this is my ideal room!
Cookbook author and TV-savvy foodie celebrity (in England, at least) Nigella Lawson has a pretty enviable space to store her books. While not as neat and orderly as some of the other libraries on this list, it is charming in its own way, with reads placed on just about every available surface. A real book lover’s library if there ever was one.
Nigella Lawson's private library. If nothing else, I want this in my life. A room filled with books.
nigella lawson's library This overloaded room looks so inviting. I would so enjoy just skimming through the stacks and shelves for fun new books to read.
Loving Nigella Lawson 's library. Also love her for inventing the 'guiltless pleasure'. And for being her :)
Nigella Lawson in her library - my house was like this until my Nook and our last move when I was finally "urged" to give my books up...I didn't have a library like Nigella...but this is HEAVEN right?
My Dream Room!!! Ahhhhhhhhh such a comfy, wonderful library which belongs to Nigella Lawson...can you even begin to imagine the aroma of books wafting about in this room? Heaven!
My dream room would have plenty of space to store my 1,000+ books and 300+ vinyl records.
la la loving @Nigella Lawson 's library.

An author + a nerd = this author's note. I love math, I love writing, I love reading, I love books, and I love people with amazing wit and humor:)
"This is a work of fiction. Still, given an infinite number of possible worlds, it must be true on one of them. And if a story set in an infinite number of possible universes is true in one of them, then it must be true in all of them. So maybe it's not as fictional as we think."
