How to ground your kids. Need this in near future!
Good Ideas, Parents, Kids Stuff, Unground, Children, Baby, Things, Great Ideas, Kiddo
Great Grounding technique. What a great idea from these parents. No time limit on the grounding. Their kids must earn points by doing chores to become ungrounded. What do you think?
Actually a good idea o have small babies though maybe earn 100 points
Good idea. To get ungrounded you must earn X amount of points. You could also add humanitarian things instead of household stuff. Ideas: reading to the elderly, donating toys to children and taking them to them, volunteering different places like animal shelters, soup kitchens and so on. This will help them see how privlaged they are, help them be more kind and caring and see there is more to life than just them. Good lessons for life and teaching compassion.
Great idea for a kiddo to unground themselves!

Love this! She explains everything I've been trying to get through to my husband and kids. Kids need chores and I do not think they need be paid to do it. However they also need to learn money skills and spending their own money they had to work for takes away the gimme's. Non paid chores first, then paid chores after.

The best Baby Teething Tips and Remedies. Cold celery natural pain relief!
Who knew celery was a natural pain remedy? Plus, many more here! Even the frozen washcloth I told my daughter - in -law about. Some good ideas!
Teething tips relief and remedies for baby While teething never really bothered Rosie, Jewel has been having such a difficult time with it. She struggled when her first teeth were coming in, and now she is getting her molars and it has been even worse. Poor Jewel was in so much pain, and given that this was a parenting first for me, I had no idea how to help her. So I turned to you, my readers, for tips and advice. I put a call out for your best baby teething tips and remedies on the Growing A Jeweled Rose facebook page and the responses were so helpful! So helpful that I wanted to compile them into a post here for others who are also in need of great baby teething tips! Baby Teething Tips & Remedies: ~ Amber teething jewelry- several people suggested amber teething necklaces . These necklaces offer a natural, drug- free alternative to soothing teething tots. Besides that, they are beautiful, lightweight, and have a lot of other homeopathic benefits. You can read all about amber teething necklaces as well as shop a great selection here. We just ordered one for Jewel, and I can not wait for it to get here! ~ Hyland's Teething Tablets- Hyland's Teething Tablets are another great homeopathic teething remedy. Several readers suggested these tablets. They are made from natural medicines and quickly dissolve once they hit babies tongue. Hyland's also makes a teething gel . ~ Camilia Teething Medicine- yet another homeopathic remedy. Camilia teething medicine is an all natural teething remedy that comes in liquid form. While we have yet to try this remedy, I love that it comes in sterile single use doses. Camilia teething medicine can be purchased at Whole Food Markets as well as many local pharmacies. Visit their site to find a retailer near you. ~ A cold wash cloth- several readers mentioned a chilled wet wash cloth. We have since tried it, and it really does help! Jewel loved gnawing on it, and the cool cloth seemed to help alleviate some of the pain. The cloth was also great at catching all of that teething drool- bonus! ~ A cold raw carrot to bite on- this tip from a reader was so helpful! Jewel enjoyed the flavor of the raw carrot. The coolness helped with the pain, and her teeth are not near strong enough to bite into the carrot, making this a safe and very frugal teething tip! ~ Frozen foods- many readers recommended frozen foods. Some examples of foods mentioned were whole frozen green beans, frozen fruit slices, and ice cubes made of juice and then placed in a mesh feeder. We have tried the juice ice cubes, and Jewel loved them! ~ The Teethifier 2 Advanced Back Teether- while I have not tried this product, it does look like it would be quite helpful, especially for babies who take a pacifier (Jewel doesn't). You can real more about it here. ~ Baby Orajel- Baby Orajel is the #1 recommended teething brand used by pediatricians. It is an instant relief gel, and comes in a pleasant cherry flavor. We have used this product several times, and it does provide some relief. ~ Tommee Tippee Baby Teethers- Tommee Tippee Baby Teethers come in a variety of different styles for every stage of teething. While some are meant for beginning teethers, others are specifically designed for the later stages of the teething process. I have not tried these products, but they were heavily recommended to me, and they look like they would be very helpful. ~ Gripe Water- Gripe water is a home remedy known to help with teething pain. There are several different kinds out there, and all have slightly different ingredients. One that was specifically recommended to me in an email from a reader was Little Tummy's Gripe Water ~ A frozen bagel- YES! This has helped Jewel a lot! Just be sure to watch baby closely. As they gnaw on the bagel and it softens, it can break apart. ~ Cold celery sticks- I had no idea that celery was a natural pain killer until a reader mentioned it. I then researched it a bit, and found out that it is in fact a natural remedy, and has been used as a pain killer since 30 AD. You can real all about the benefits of celery here. ~ Infant Tylenol- Infant Tylenol is great for reducing pain in teething tots. We use it often. However, I try to limit the use of medicine and usually reserve it's use for night time so that we can all get a good nights sleep. ~ Lots of cuddles and love- If your babe is having trouble teething, spend as much time as possible cuddled up together. If you nurse, nurse more during this time. Hey, we can always use an excuse to stay in bed with our babes, right? ;) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks so much to my readers for sharing their baby teething tips with me! These tips have been so helpful to Jewel. I am certain they will be a helpful resource to other parents facing the problem of painful teething too! - See more at: http://www.growingajeweledrose.com/2012/08/baby-teething-tips-and-remedies.html?m=1#sthash.wJRoDshW.dpuf

Family Camping Checklist The Portable Baby 0 Back to FAQs Family Camping Checklist Posted by Laura Hamilton on December 26, 2014 15 Here’s my family camping checklist for camping with small children. This is a car camping list, not a backpacking list, which you probably would have figured out by the time you got to “carpet remnant for tent entrance”. Still, I can fit everything in a smallish VW station wagon with two giant carseats in back, so it’s really not all that much stuff, either. You certainly don’t need an SUV. If you don’t have a family camping checklist, try this one as a base. I find that having a list to refer to takes a lot of the stress out of it...I don't have to worry if I remembered everything...I just look at my list and then check things off as I load them into the car. As you find yourself making additions and subtractions, write them down to make the list your own! I'd love to hear your suggestions in the comments. SLEEP + SHELTER tent air mattress sheets for air mattress manual or battery-powered pump sleeping bags for everyone pillowcases (stuff them with sweatshirts/towels to make pillows) carpet remnant for tent entrance lantern flashlights headlamps for little kids (or for everyone, if you prefer. Little kids under 5 need headlamps because they don’t get the concept of pointing the beam where they want to go, also they tend to drop flashlights and lose them) EAT tablecloth camp table (don’t need if there are picnic tables) camp chairs firewood kindling newspaper camp stove propane bottles tea strainer/tea coffee press/coffee dishwashing bucket Dr. Bronner’s soap (not peppermint – stings eyes when used as face wash) sponge scrub brush water bottles, one for each person. sharp knife cutting board scissors corkscrew can opener bottle opener matches and lighter ice chest w/ice (if you are bringing perishable food) trash bag large water cooler saucepan frying pan dutch oven plates bowls forks spoons knives mugs aluminum foil roll of paper towels vegetable peeler PERSONAL CARE toothbrushes toothpaste nail clipper nail file washcloths (one per person) towels (one per person) shampoo (or can use Dr. Bronner’s soap) conditioner (for long hair) moisturizer (body and face) sunscreen (body and face) lip balm sun hats for everyone sunglasses diapers (for kids who still need them, or for bedwetters. You do NOT want to experience a peed-in sleeping bag. Better safe than sorry) wet wipes deodorant hairbrush/comb ibuprofen first aid kit any necessary medications or vitamins portable potty for little kids toilet paper tweezers tampons/pads/menstrual cup, etc. CLOTHING underwear, one pair per person per day socks, one pair per person per day (ideally Smartwool, as they do not get stinky or feel damp) jeans sweatpants (can be used as pajamas) sweatshirt (ditto) black or dark-colored wool sweater shorts T-shirts fleece vest fleece hat warm coat hiking/walking shoes Crocs or flip-flops or Teva's (for going in the water, beach, pool, wearing in campsite showers, slipping on to go pee in the middle of the night, etc.) bathing suit swim/sun shirt swim goggles Swim Cushions for beginning swimmers MISCELLANEOUS baby carrier screwdriver pliers camera camera charger journal maps and guidebooks pens Swiss Army or utility knife clothesline (for hanging towels, bathing suits, washcloths, rinsed out clothing) prefold cloth diapers (used for drying dishes, cleaning up random spills and wet spots, padding, endlessly useful to have 5-10 of these along) guitar and pick games, books and toys for kids. My favorite is a big bucket of Legos. iPod for car stereo cell phone cell phone car charger laptop laptop power supply batteries duct tape daypacks for carrying lunches, water, camera, maps, etc. FOOD This depends on the facilities available, personal taste, etc. I don’t really like to cook a lot when I’m camping. Some people are really into it, I am not, unless I am camping with a group to share the labor. When camping with kids, if I spend time and effort cooking over a campstove and they don’t eat it, it’s a GIANT PAIN. With my camping pantry staples below, they can just grab what they want and not waste food or create a pile of dishes that need to be washed. After all, the whole point is to have fun and relax, not chore like I do at home. apples avocados hard-boiled eggs cheese salami chocolate oranges hot dogs peanut butter jelly bread nuts crackers Clif bars marshmallows (for toasting over the campfire) Nutella graham crackers fruit leather dried fruit (dried cranberries, raisins, etc.) trail mix carrots and/or celery salt sugar hot chocolate packets canned baked beans canned corn (mix beans and corn together in a pot and heat. delish!) TetraPaks of milk – dairy, almond, soy, rice, hemp, etc. What did I forget? Let me know in the comments, please!
