Summer reading: For legions of The Hunger Games fans salivating for their next dystopian survival rations, the Divergent series offers toothsome fare. Insurgent, the sequel to the first book, plunges readers deeper into Tris Prior’s brutal world, where the only certainty has been her love for Tobias, a fellow Dauntless Faction member. The Family Fang - dysfunctional family drama at its mediocre level
The Family Fang by Kevin Wilson. Annie and Buster Fang are the grown-up children of performance artists. As Child A and Child B, their childhoods were spent as protagonists in their parents' transgressive and discomfiting public happenings - e.g, giving a bizarre and cacophonic concert in a shopping mall, supposedly to raise money for their sick dog’s surgery, while their parents incite passersbys to boo and heckle. Now they must come to terms with their dysfunctional past. Smart and funny!

A young man's life is ruined by the murder of his girlfriend & the belief of everyone in his small town that he did it. After a night of drinking, he wakes up with horns growing from his temples. I had no idea that 1) this was a 'horror' novel, & 2) Hill is Stephen King's son. I read it based on a 'read this before the movie comes out' list. I enjoyed it. I did not consider it a horror novel - though the 'bad guy' is pretty horrifying. It derailed a few times, but overall, I am glad I read it.

At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State--and to do it alone.
Cheryl Strayed took an 1,100-mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail in order to deal with her catastrophic past. This honest memoir is filled with suspense and humor, a journey worth the read. Reese Witherspoon takes on the role of Strayed and she’ll probably be her usual charming self.
