World War Ii
Riverman - Love story that takes place during World War II.
Personally, I suggest ignoring the movie, which, though well cast, was not a great adaptation of the first book in this trilogy. Cornelia Funke takes readers on a fantasy journey into the power of books. Along the way, you'll meet several well-rounded characters and explore themes of family ties, good versus evil, loyalty, courage, and love.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke A charming children's book that made me wish I could believe in magic again.
Madi absolutely loved the imagination in the story... definitly a book worth reading!!
Cornelia Funke, author of "Inkheart" is an amazing writer. The story will have you turning pages until the very end. How would you rate the movie compared to the book?
One cruel night, Meggie's father reads aloud from a book called INKHEART-- and an evil ruler escapes the boundaries of fiction and lands in their living room. Suddenly, Meggie is smack in the middle of the kind of adventure she has only read about in books. Meggie must learn to harness the magic that has conjured this nightmare. For only she can change the course of the story that has changed her life forever. Always one of my favorite books! <3
InkHeart, the First in the Ink World Trilogy by Cornelia Funke. Definetly worth reading
Inkheart (Inkheart Trilogy) by Cornelia Funke - Twelve-year-old Meggie learns that her father, who repairs and binds books for a living, can "read" fictional characters to life when one of those characters abducts them and tries to force him into service.
reasure Island is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, narrating a tale of "pirates and buried gold". First published as a book on May 23, 1883, it was originally serialized in the children's magazine Young Folks between 1881–82 under the title Treasure Island; or, the mutiny of the Hispaniola with Stevenson adopting the pseudonym Captain George North.

H1 - 5 stars Overview "Somewhere in the world I have a tiara in a little box. It is not safe for me to wear it...It is not safe for me even to tell anyone who I really am. But I know — I have always known." Cecilia knows that she is not just another peasant girl; she is actually the true princess, in hiding until the evil forces that killed her parents are vanquished. A commoner named Desmia is on the throne as a decoy. As she gets older, Cecilia finds it harder to study statesmanship and palace protocol secretly at night and then pretend that she has nothing on her mind other than scrubbing the gruel stains out of her best apron by day. Cecilia knows that it is time to take charge. Along with her best friend, Harper, she flees to the capital city, determined to reclaim her throne and face the danger head on. When Harper and Cecilia reach the famed Palace of Mirrors, they discover complications: Princess Desmia believes an entirely different version of the story. Acclaimed author Margaret Peterson Haddix returns to the charmed world of Just Ella, where a princess-in-hiding and a pretender to the throne discover that nothing is as it appears.

Before Midnight: A Retelling of "Cinderella" (Once Upon a Time) This is a great Cinderella story and the one I wish they told little girls.
Before Midnight: A Retelling of "Cinderella" (Once Upon a Time) Part of Dokey’s wonderful Once Upon a Time series, this different take on Cinderella helps explain why the stepmother did not like Cinderella and what Cinderella’s father was thinking leaving her in her stepmother’s care. I have enjoyed every retelling in the series, from Dokey’s take on Rapunzel to her re-examination of “Sleeping Beauty” Princess Aurore.
This book takes place between Jesus's death and Pentecost. Loved it!

Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ is a novel by Lew Wallace published on November 12, 1880 by Harper & Brothers. Considered "the most influential Christian book of the nineteenth century",it was the best-selling American novel from the time of its publication, superseding Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852). It remained at the top until the publication of Gone with the Wind (1936). Blessed by Pope Leo XIII, it was the first work of fiction to be so honored.
An exciting tale of ancient Rome!

This book entranced me. I have loved historical fiction ever since.
Ben-Hur, A Tale of the Christ by Lew Wallace. One of the most influential books of the 19th Century. Wallace's exploration of Christianity written after an encounter with an atheist. Great book. Very wordy...and I am a fan of wordiness. But he goes on and on with sequences that are quite superfluous. However, all in all, it has been a good read. Enjoyable.

Catherine Marshall. This is one of Richard’s and my favorite books of all time. It was also my daddy’s favorite book. Catherine Marshall uses her mother’s true testimony as the basis for this historical fiction masterpiece. Christy Huddleson is only 19 when she accepts the Lord’s invitation to teach school in the poorest area of the Great Smoky Mountains in the early 1900’s. The people of Christy’s world became like family as I read. This tale has everything: villains, romance, faith. S. E.

Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George. Started reading 1/7/13. Finished 1/24/13. I wanted to love this book. As it was, I had to convince myself to finish it. It's not that the story was bad (a retelling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses fairy tale), just that there was never any emotional connection for me with the characters. Stuff just happened to them. Also, the romance storyline was quite lackluster. All in all, a *meh* read. 3.5 stars
Cameron Dokey. Another one of my very favorites!
