Book discussion at the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library July 21st, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
The Edge of Winter by Luanne Rice ~ So... this is a "beach read" of sorts. But definitely not your typical fluffy, like you'd expect, summer beach read! I have been seeing tons of Luanne Rice's books at Goodwill and McCay's and always just pass them right up. I thought that she was more of a "romance" type of author. Read Oct 2014 for book club -- delightful....for book club....The All Girl Filling Station Last Reunion By Fannie Flag ... a most excellent 5 star read
The All-Girl’s Filling Station Last Reunion, by Fannie Flagg. The title doesn’t reflect the main theme, which concerns three sisters from the Deep South who flew military aircraft around the United States during the Second World War. This novel by the author of Fried Green Tomatoes is light and entertaining, and popularizes an important contribution made by women flyers to the war effort.
The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion, a new book by Fannie Flagg
The All Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg
Maria's Pick: Fannie Flagg is one of my favorite authors and her latest novel lives up to my expectations. A special treat for me is that she uses my childhood hometown of Pulaski, Wisconsin as part of the book's setting. What a thrill! The story is entertaining, funny and sad; and even educational at times. Well worth reading.

The Hobe Sound Library Book Club will discuss Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout on Tuesday, Nov. 5th at 1pm. Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher, deplores the changes in her little town and in the world at large, but she doesn't always recognize the changes in those around her: a lounge musician haunted by a past romance, a former student who has lost the will to live, and Olive's own adult child, who feels tyrannized by her irrational sensitivities
Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout - Reviews, Discussion, Bookclubs, Lists. I love this book!
“Olive Kitteridge” by Elizabeth Strout a graduate of SU Law Olive Kitteridge was my favorite as a series of short stories that reads like a novel centered on Olive and her life in Maine. Also suggested “Burgess Boys” by the same author.
