What do you wear in the kitchen garden?

My children are calling it my kangaroo apron. I like to think of it as my kitchen garden overall. Whichever it is, I've made it, which means it fits my needs perfectly. It had three basic requirements: 1. Must cover my clothes. Imagine the scenario. Guests are due in 10 minutes. You've changed into something that makes you look less of a scruff than usual. You are ready and looking gorgeous, of course. You look out at the garden and spot some fennel and lettuce, which would be perfect in…

Brightening Up Everyday Jobs (Hillarys Blinds Craft Competition Entry)

Last week, Hillarys Blinds were kind enough to send me a metre squared piece of their lovely fabric, so that I could craft up something lovely, to enter in to their Craft Competition. There were four lovely fabrics to choose from: I chose the pretty, Orla Keily-esqe Daisy Pistachio and stared thinking of what to make. When the fabric arrived, honestly, it was so lovely, I wanted to make a cushion from it! I thought about a cushion trimmed with yellow ric-rac, to set off the yellow in the…

Sew, a needle pulling thread! ⋆ Made By Me Craft Parties

In truth, I’m not much of a sewer. In my head I’m amazing and I have a fabric stash that makes my husband’s eyes roll up to the sky and a bookcase full of gorgeous sewing books that sit on the shelf gathering dust. Sadly, in reality I have a go at making something, do … Continue reading Sew, a needle pulling thread!

Craft Competition Time

Last year I took part in the Hillarys Craft Competition and really enjoyed creating my project. A fortnight ago I thought I would look to see if there was a competition this year. I was pleased to find that not only was Hillarys running a competition this year but I had just made the deadline for applying for my fabric. There were four beautiful fabrics to choose from DAISY PISTACHIO, SAFI TURQUOISE, HATTI RASPBERRY and RAYNA APPLE. I decided on SAFI TURQUOISE, this is a lovely bluey grey…

Hillarys Craft Competition

I was excited to find out about the Hillarys Craft Competition for crafty bloggers to unleash their talents using one metre of one of their fabric. I was given a choice of four fabrics of which the Daisy Pistachio appealed to me the most. I already had the idea of what I wanted to do with it in my head so when the fabric came I was pleased to see that it was even more beautiful than it looked online. I had an idea of a beautiful clutch bag embellished with sequins and beads. I did not work…

DIY Box bottom tote with hidden seams - Crafting Fingers

Sewing is one of my favourite crafts. It’s also the most frustrating. When I saw the fabric choices for the Hillarys Craft Competition, I knew I had to get my hands on the Rayna Apple pattern. Problem is, I’m a novice. And directional, bold patterns can be pretty intimidating to sew with. After a few… Read More »DIY Box bottom tote with hidden seams

Is your bag beach ready? - Fuss Free Living

The sun is mostly out, that feeling of summer is here, or just about. What could be better than taking time out and getting off to the beach for a relaxing day? When I go to the beach, I like to take with me all the stuff I’m going to need. Without even considering myself,...Read More »

Hillarys Craft Competition 2015

I was kindly asked by Hillary's to participate in their bloggers crafting competition, for which, the winner gets £1000 (oooooh). Each contestant received a 1 metre squared piece of fabric in a design from their Roman blinds and curtains collection and I chose the Safi Turquoise fabric to work with and rustle up this asymmetric wrap skirt (very on trend) as well as a clutch bag to match. Although I rarely sew anymore (I used to frequently at school) when I do, I don't use a pattern and tend…
