"Joseph And Mary Can’t Make It To Bethlehem" is street artist Banksy's Christmas card from Santa’s Ghetto exhibit in 2005. It reimagines Joseph and Mary crossing the desert — she astride a donkey — on their way to Bethlehem, only to find their route blocked by the infamous graffiti-covered Irsaeli apartheid wall that separates Israel from Palestine and the West Bank. A cross-shaped star lights up the heavens which they will not be able to reach.

A Palestinian pottery worker is putting final touches on a earthenware vase at his pottery traditional factory in the West Bank city of Hebron. Pottery is a very ancient and traditional industry in Hebron. It has been known since more than 2000 years ago. However, nowadays this industry is almost wiping out as a result of the increased violence in the region over the last two years, the pottery factory output has been reduced by almost two thirds. from archive

The Dead Sea (Israel, Jordan, Palestine) The Dead Sea is a salt lake between the West Bank/Palestine/Israel to the west and Jordan to the east. It is the saltiest sea on the planet which contains no animal or plant life (hence the dead) but an amazing sight to be seen.

The Dead sea is on our bucket list of places to visit but in the meantime we will close our eyes and relax in a nice warm bath full of Serenity Dead sea salts and pretend we are there! We have been hearing about the benefits of dead sea salts for ages. Sourced from the Jordan rift valley these salts have long been recommended by doctors and dermatologists for their skin soothing and relaxing benefits. The high level of magnesium in the salts helps to cleanse the skin and relieve many skin disorders. Dry skin, dermatitis and psoriasis are soothed and moisturised whilst the natural minerals penetrate deep into the skin to moisturise and nourish. Bathing in a warm bath of these salts will increase circulation helping to eliminate toxins as well as relaxing stressed muscles. Great for people who suffer from arthritis or joint stiffness as the calcium and potassium reduce joint inflammation. A friend of ours often suffers from gynaecological issues and finds bathing in dead sea salts soothes and calms. Depending on what you are treating Serenity recommend using different amounts in your bath. Use one cap full for relaxation or two cap full amounts for skin disorders or muscular conditions. The grains will melt away in the water and after soaking for 30 minutes you'll instantly notice the softening effect they have on your skin. Serenity dead sea salts come in a huge 1kg tub priced at £7.50. I have transferred mine into a beautiful china pot in the bathroom to make it feel even more luxurious when I pour it in! His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique. Such artistic works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. Banksy's work was made up of the Bristol underground scene which involved collaborations between artists and musicians. According to author and graphic designer Tristan Manco and the book Home Sweet Home, Banksy "was born in 1974 and raised in Bristol, England. The son of a photocopier technician, he trained as a butcher, but became involved in graffiti during the great Bristol aerosol boom of the late 1980s." Observers have noted that his style is similar to Blek le Rat, who began to work with stencils in 1981 in Paris. Banksy says that he was inspired by "3D", a graffiti artist who later became a founding member of Massive Attack. Known for his contempt for the government in labelling graffiti as vandalism, Banksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls, even going as far as to build physical prop pieces. Banksy does not sell photographs or reproductions of his street graffiti, but art auctioneers have been known to attempt to sell his street art on location and leave the problem of its removal in the hands of the winning bidder. Banksy's first film, Exit Through the Gift Shop, billed as "the world's first street art disaster movie", made its debut at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The film was released in the UK on 5 March 2010. In January 2011, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary for the film. In 2014, he was awarded person of year at the 2014 Webby Awards.
