Mexican sunflower (Tithonia rotundiflora) can grow up to 6 feet with 3-inch bright red-orange blooms. Because flower stems are hollow, you'll need to use an especially sharp tool when cutting for arrangements. | Photo: Derek Ramsey GNU | thisoldhouse.com

A Tiny Maple Bonsai - Here's something a lot of people don't know. The great warrior samurai, and emperors of Japan were usually well taught regarding the art of flower arranging. Each type of flower or plant would signify different things, and arranging them harmoniously was very important. It calmed the mind, and rested the soul in exactly the way that caring for bonsai trees does. You will often see flower motifs on old samurai armor.
Tiny Bonsai - crazy cute and inexplicably weird to see a Japanese Maple THIS small. OMG the pots!!

Here in Texas we have lot's of tracks & bluebonnets... The steel is still here and this track could be refurbished... So many miles of our railroads were shipped to Japan to be melted and remolded and sold back to America. What are we thinking? $ and profit still reigns at the cost of the common citizen.

Great way to recycle .. Awesome gardening idea! (Combat boots?)
Old boot planters - should do with old combat boots, after retirement.
old boot planters - Love these! Chicks and hens plants are perfect for these! Got some old beat up cowboy boots at the thrift store and a neighbor has some plants she's dividing. These plants stay green thru all seasons. Look good grown in high heels and colanders too!
Boot planters - things to do with old shoes... I think soak the boot overnight in a liquid fertilizer/water mixture. Fill with peat moss and plant seed traditionally. As for the flowers on the outside, I was thinking water down some modeling clay until it's a paste, mix in your seeds and a little liquid fertilizer, and spread it around. The question is, will it take? Maybe alfalfa or rye grass seed would take well?
old boots turned succulent garden - cute!i did this but used baby shoes and cowboy boots, then made a sign that said 'old shoes and old friends are best" for my front porch..<3
