Absorbing Patti Smith through her own words; her dreams and schemes, her yearnings and learnings. The way she would make daisy chains to adorn her neck and crown her head. How she'd become overstuffed with longings to explore and her urge to express herself, harvesting all that lay within her vivid and extremely active imagination.

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts - A cult classic, a man’s journey from the darkness of a prison to his life in the streets of Mumbai.
Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. What a journey. Personal, philosophical, thrilling. All at the same time.
This is a totally amazing book - now my all-time favourite. I was hooked from page one. A mad, beautiful, bold, huge trip of a book. Proof of the phrase 'real life is stranger than fiction'. But more than a glimpse of a very interesting life, the people you meet in this book stay with you, and the acute observations about life, love, friendship, death etc are mostly original and thought-provoking. A must read. Don't be put off by the size, I devoured it in two weeks.
#On my top 5 book list- Set in the underworld of Bombay. Shantaram is told by Lin, an escaped convict with a false passport who flees maximum security prison in Australia for the teeming streets of a city where he can disappear. As a hunted man without a home, family, or identity, Lin searches for love and meaning while running a clinic in one of the city's poorest slums, and serving his apprenticeship in the dark arts of the Bombay mafia. The search leads him to war, prison torture & murder.
Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts the BEST book I have ever read.
