I bought different colors of aquarium gravel. I layered a 1000 ml graduated cylinder and made the layers of the atmosphere to scale. The students cannot grasp the idea how big each layer is, but when scaled it becomes easy to visualize. They love it!   troposphere - 15 ml    stratoshpere - 45 ml    mesosphere - 45 ml    thermosphere - 895    **In 4th grade, we only teach the first 4 layers.**
