Dr. Jean Friends Blog: Fiddle Sticks, Self Control Lotion, and Dumbo!
Fidget ideas: shoebox with “brain toys” on it. Next get some socks and tie knots in them. OR a jumbo craft stick to decorate. tie 20” piece of string to their sticks and keep them in desks. When their hands get “figdgety” they can get their fiddle sticks and wind and unwind the string. OR Keep a bottle of lotion on the desk and call it “self control lotion.” When students are having trouble paying attention give them a squirt of lotion and tell them to rub it in.
Pencil fidgets - They allow the student to have something to move around in their hands. Students that require such fidgets have a need for sensory stimulation, and fidgets provide that within the classroom setting. I know about 50 kids... and myself who would benefit from these.

This might be a great idea to help my son keep his hands to himself in class. Just have to get the teachers to allow him to have one, since everyone has to have the same pencils, same folders, same erasers, same scissors, etc. :-/ Pencil fidgets - They allow the student to have something to move around in their hands.
