Hudson Valley Wine Goddess
For 20+ years our December Wine Night was always our cookie swap. This year's cookie swap wine night was a little different. We were on Zoom drinking wine. AND there were no cookies :( My wine of choice was a 2017 Benmarl Stainless Steel Chardonnay which was tasting beautifully. There were notes of melon, pineapple and pear. The malolactic fermentation gives the wine a nice soft and rounded mouthfeel. Too bad I couldn't share it with my ladies. Wish I had another bottle too!
Whitecliff Sky Island 2010
There's a lot of Kitchen Wine this week. This 2010 Whitecliff Vineyards Sky Island is special. Why? Because my husband made it. He was the winemaker there for a while. Merlot-based, the wine had a great nose with stewed cherries, black raspberry, blueberry and a touch of allspice. Flavors of black raspberry, black cherry, juicy black plum with a hint of white pepper on the finish. Chef's pairing suggesting: Venison loin, Veal in a rose demi, rack of lamb, duck meatballs and duck fritters.

It was a #HudsonValleyWine evening with Whitecliff Vineyards 2016 Hudson River Region Cabernet Franc. This wine scored 90 points in Wine Enthusiast. Cranberry and black cherry with a hint of dried herbs that fade as the wine opens up. Red and black fruit coat your palate as a big burst of black licorice spice explodes in your mouth and lingers a bit before it fades. If you know me, I am a huge fan of the black spice explosion on the finish.
Whitecliff HRR Reserve Chardonnay 2017
Beginning the year hanging with Hudson Valley's Whitecliff Vineyards 2017 Hudson River Region Reserve Chardonnay. Nicely done Brad! Very Chablis style. Nice nuisances of lime zest, honeydew, hint of minerality. Soft on the palate and drinks beautifully. . #winetime #hvwine #hudsonvalley #hudsonvalleywine #chardonnay #newyorkwine #wineoftheday #winesofinstagram #wineoclock #winestagram #winelover
Hudson Valley Wine Goddess
Cleaning out my wine cellar and found a 2016 Benmarl Winery Stainless Steel Chardonnay. The proper thing to do is open it, which we did. WOW! Nice, fresh and very well balanced with hints of lime, honeydew and green apple. I wish I had another bottle.

Gamay Noir is the grape known for producing the red wine of Beaujolais. Gamay also grows well in the Hudson Valley and Whitecliff Vineyards & Winery has planted the grape at their Olana Vineyard. In 2018 they produced the first Blanc de Gamay Noir. This is the first white Gamay I've tasted. The wine was aged sur lie. It's a light wine, floral aromas leads to a hint of strawberry taffy flavor and puckering acidity.
