Spiral Minaret (Al-Malweyya), Samarra, Iraq, 52 m. Some historians believe it pre-dates the 835 AD Caliph Al-Mu'tasim Mosque - it looks like a wonderful wedding cake!
This is not a painting of the Tower of Babel. It is a real photo of the spiral Minaret (Al-Malweyya) in Samarra, Iraq, It is 52 m. high. Some historians believe it pre-dates the 835 AD Caliph Al-Mu'tasim Mosque.

Spiral Minaret, Samarra, Iraq. Is it just me, or does this look like a miniature Tower of Babel? It's in the right place anyway.
The spiral minaret of the Great Mosque of Samarra (also known as the Malwiya Minaret) in Samarra, Iraq. The word "malwiya" translates as "twisted" or "snail shell". The minaret is approximately 171 feet (52m or roughly 17 stories) tall. I imagine the tower of Babel may have looked more like this than the ancient square stacked pyramids found worldwide.
I'm obsessed with the worlds ancient architecture! *Minaret at the Great Mosque of Samarra, Iraq*

Santiago Calatrava. Not a typical design for Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the Peace Bridge in Calgary, Canada. A red twisting helix-shaped pedestrian bridge, the Peace Bridge is a low single-span bridge without Calatrava’s usual soaring vertical accents because of a no-fly zone above due to a nearby heliport. In addition, to minimize impact on the local environment, the bridge was constructed without supporting piers in the riverbed. The result is a striking tubular steel-truss bridge.

Moses Bridge Netherlands - In the early 17th century Fort de Ruver was surrounded by a moat and was originally built without a bridge. But during a recent restoration program has necessitated the construction of the bridge. Out of respect to the original fort insular status Dutch company RO AD Architecten built ladder bridge Moses. Get the original "sunken" bridge literally merges with the water line. As a result, almost invisible bridge partially submerged pedestrian moat.
